Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Wisbech Town are set to receive a cash injection of around £50,000 to help cover the costs of construction for their newly proposed stadium.

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund are behind the grant given to the Cambridgeshire outfit which and with the money the Fenmen are hopeful their new stadium off Lynn Road will be ready for the beginning of the 2010/11 season.

Wisbech Town Football Club website editor, Spencer Larham is pleased with the grant from the  Football Stadia Improvement Fund and believes the money will go a long way to improving the clubs foundations to progress.

“It will make a big impact and it means the club will be able to create a stadium to the standard that we want it to be,” Larham said.

"The club has had to delay things until we knew what was happening with this grant. Securing this funding is essentially the green light to allow us to push through with plans for the stadium and I expect things will pick up quite rapidly now."

Work on Wisbech's new stadium started at Lynn Road in August 2009 and once completed the final total of the project will cost around £135,000.
