NEW CHARGERS STADIUM CLOSES IN ON PLANNING PERMISSION

The San Diego Chargers are one step closer to approved plans for their new $800 million purpose built stadium on downtown San Diego.

Fred Mass, Chairman of the Centre City Development Corp., reacted to the recent vote in favour of the proposal for the new development: “It's the equivalent of asking our doctor if we may start the arduous process of training for a marathon.”

The next step for development lies in the hands of the San Diego City Council, four government entities, the state of Finance and Housing Community Development.

If the plans are passed with those organisations, the stadium plans will also need to be passed through by San Diego Unified School District, San Diego County Office of Education and the San Diego Community College District.
