Work is already underway at Allen High School's $59.6 million new stadium project.
The brand new 18,000-seater venue will feature a sunken-bowl design, video scoreboard, weight room, wrestling practice room and even an indoor area for golf practice in bad weather.
Gary Stocker, president of the Allen school board said: "It meets the needs and desires of our community. We're a one-high-school town. Everyone's an Eagle in Allen."
Planning for a new stadium began in 1995, but officials chose to make school construction a priority for the fast-growing district.
In May 2009, voters approved a $119 million bond package that included the stadium, a fine arts auditorium for the high school and a district service centre for maintenance, student nutrition and transportation.
