The proposed NFL stadium in Santa Clara has taken another twist.
The San Francisco 49ers filed suit after a Santa Clara County board pulled out of a $30m investment of tax funds to help build a new stadium for the NFL franchise. A court hearing is set to kick-off Tuesday.
The team said the $30m was approved by Santa Clara voters in June 2010 and formalised in written agreements in February 2011 for the facility being built in Santa Clara. The withdrawal of funds hampers the possibility of a new stadium for the 49ers and may see them stay at their current home Candlestick Park.
