A.S. Roma President James Pallotta states the club will have its own stadium by 2017.
The Rome club currently share the Stadio Olimpico with city and league rivals Lazio, but wants their own stadium to increase revenue.
Pallotta has said the club has three possible sites for the new stadium and investment could exceed $250 million. Leading the list is the south western area of the city, Tor di Valle, while options also lie at Gazometro and Ostiense.
Lined up to design the stadium is American architect Dan Meis - most famous for his work designing Los Angeles' STAPLES Center - and will contain several shops and restaurants.
