AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL GYMNASTICS ARENA OFFICIALLY OPENED

The new National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, has been officially opened.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon at the venue, designed to be one of the centrepieces of the inaugural European Games next year.

The 30th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be the first major event held at the arena from 13th to 15th June 2015.

Depending on its configuration, between 5,000 and 10,000 spectators can be accommodated. It also boasts a hotel, press centre, first aid station, dance hall, gym, doping control rooms, offices, shops and cafes amongst its facilities.
