Bath Rugby’s plans to temporarily increase the capacity of the Recreation Ground have been put on hold.
The decision has been deferred by Bath & North East Somerset Council after they were unable to decide on whether to grant the club permission to increase the capacity from 12,000 to nearly 14,000.
The plans, intended to be put in place for the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons only, also include an upgrade of the Recreation Ground
facilities ahead of the club’s 150th anniversary next year.
Chief executive Nick Blofeld told Bath’s website: “We are clearly very disappointed that B&NES Development Control Committee has chosen to delay the decision for our temporary application proposal.
“This presents us with significant challenges to be ready for the start of the season.”
The matter has been deferred until a council planning meeting at the end of July.
