COUNCIL DEMAND ALTERATIONS AT THE HIVE

Harrow Council have ordered Barnet to demolish a stand and the floodlights at The Hive, but the club have confirmed they will challenge the demand.

The Skrill Premier outfit are playing their first season in the stadium after moving out of Underhill at the end of last term.

The Bees gained planning permission to finish the stadium at The Hive, which is based in Edgware, in 2008 but the West Stand and the floodlights have exceeded the dimensions allowed.

The club could be prosecuted if they fail to remove the stand in six months, and the floodlights in three.

A club statement read: "Barnet FC wishes to put the minds of its supporters at rest by stating that the club intends to lodge an appeal against the decision that has prompted speculation.

"And, furthermore, should the appeal go against The Hive there are simple remedies available in terms of restructuring the stand and the floodlights that in no way compromise the future of the club."
