The University of Alabama have announced they will be building a new baseball stadium after the Board of Trustees voted in favour of the $30-million project.
Despite it officially being a renovation of the Crimson Tide's Sewell-Thomas Stadium, every part of the original structure will be replaced except from the Sarah Patterson champions Plaza which is currently under construction.
The next stage is to present architectural designs to the board, and work is scheduled to begin at the end of the 2013/14 season and completed by August 2015.
James Wilson, a University trustee, said: “It’s going to be on the level with everything else that this campus has renovated. It’s going to be a great family atmosphere, a great spectator atmosphere, great for our student-athletes, and great for our students.”
