Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez has proposed a new downtown waterfront site for the new MLS franchise in Miami.
City-owned land between Museum Park and NBA franchise Miami Heat's stadium - the American Airlines Arena - has been identified for the soccer stadium.
The build would be part of "a grand waterfront park" on Biscayne Bay, with reported costs of somewhere between $10-$16 million.
Discussions have so far centred around a site a little further south in PortMiami and this remains a possibility despite being met with opposition by politicians and businesses that are currently situated there.
However, after being apparently guided towards a new location by Gimenez, Miami Beckham United - the investment partnership - indicated they are open to the proposed site for a new 25,000-seater venue.
A third potential site is Little Havana, next to Marlins Park.
