Everton are hopeful of announcing plans for a new 50,000-seater stadium in the coming week.
The Toffees have been in talks with Liverpool City Council to build the new venue at Walton Hall Park, after Goodison Park
was deemed unable to generate sufficient revenue for the club.
Their current home has a maximum capacity of 39,600, with the new stadium holding potential for attendances in excess of 50,000.
Plans for a stadium share on land over Stanley Park with neighbours Liverpool was speculated for long periods, with both clubs seemingly unconvinced by the proposals.
Everton have been based at Goodison Park for over 100 years, since 1892, but ambitions of breaking into Europe, along with attempts to maximise revenue from their large fan base, has seen the club take steps to ensure a move.
