EVERTON IDENTIFY SITE FOR NEW STADIUM

Everton have identified a site for their new 50,000-seater stadium as they plan a move away from Goodison Park.

The club have located a plot within the city boundaries in Liverpool after examining several sites, but chief executive Robert Elstone refused to name where the preferred area was.

“The stadium remains a big priority,” said Elstone at the club's general meeting.

“We're not ruling out any of the sites that we've identified and that the council has presented to us but there is one site that's getting more attention."

The club must now take steps to work with Liverpool City Council to see if they can gain a plan of the ground while the Everton board is expected to decide on the financial viability of the scheme in the next few months.

The Toffees have been based at Goodison Park since 1892.
