FIFA have begun the inspection process on Russia's selected venues for the 2018 World Cup.

Representatives will visit St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi and Moscow stadiums within the next week, as well as review projects and plans in place for the constructions of other venues.

The inspection group will consist of 40 experts from FIFA and Arena-2018 to overlook the preparation, security, transport, logistics and hospitality plans for the selected stadia.

Alexey Sorokin, CEO of the Russia 2018 organising committee said: “Running the first joint inspection of the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadiums is a crucial milestone marking the transition from the design phase to operational stage of preparations for the tournament.

“The primary goal for inspection at this stage is to receive first-hand information on how design and construction is going for the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadiums.”
