Japan’s new national stadium will host the athletics as well as the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2020 Olympic Games.
In an announcement last week, Jacques Rogge revealed that Tokyo will host the 2020 Games and the country’s new stadium, which is being designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, will host the main events.
The stadium will be based near Shinjuku, Tokyo, and will house seating for 80,000 people.
It will have a retractable roof and adjustable seating sections which will move closer to the field of play for football and rugby matches.
