The Charlotte Knights, a Minor League Baseball franchise, have signed a multi-year partnership agreement with department store chain Belk.

The deal will see Belk branding around the Knights Stadium in Fort Mill until the end of 2013 and in their future home stadium, the BB&T Ballpark, from next year.

The North Carolina-based company will also become the presenting sponsor of the Knights’ annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser. No financial terms were released.

Chris Semmens, vice president of sales for the Charlotte Knights, said: “The Charlotte Knights are extremely proud to begin a partnership with Belk.

“With its excellent reputation and strong track record of community support, Belk is a tremendous new partner. We look forward to working together towards a bright future for both organisations.”

Executive vice president of sales promotion, marketing and e-commerce for Belk, Jon Pollack, added: “We are excited to partner with the Charlotte Knights as they start a new era of baseball in Charlotte.

“We are committed to our community and working with the Charlotte Knights will help both organisations deliver on that promise.”

The minor league club is the Triple-A affiliate of Major League Baseball Chicago White Sox.
