LIVERPOOL'S ANFIELD PLANS RECEIVE BOOST

Premier League giants Liverpool are hoping to submit a planning application before the end of the season which would see Anfield be redeveloped.

One of the hurdles currently blocking the formal unveiling of plans could be removed in the next eight weeks.

Liverpool City Council have released a consultation document which would catalyse the expansion of the stadium to 55,000, if agreed with by politicians and residents.

The stadium expansion is park of a wider £260 million regeneration of the surrounding area.

The Merseyside club have been based at Anfield, which currently seats over 45,000 spectators, since 1884.
