Olympique Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is confident the club's new stadium will be delivered on time ahead of the 2015/16 season.
The stadium has been the centre of media reports of late, regarding the inclusion of legal negotiations and the insertion of penalty clauses in the club's contract should the start of the work be delayed, but Aulas insists the project is on track in terms of finalising the structural concept and finance.
Aulas said: “We retain our wish of completing the ‘Stade des Lumières’ [stadium of light] for June 2015 allowing the team to move in for the 2015/2016 season and permitting Euro 2016 [which France host] matches to be hosted in the [new] Olympique Lyon stadium.”
The club currently play at the 40,500-capacity Stade de Gerland, and have done since 1950.
