The Maracana Stadium reopened on Saturday with a friendly fixture between sides lead by Brazilian football legends Ronaldo and Bebeto.

The renovation to the Rio de Janeiro venue, set to host the Confederations Cup and World Cup finals in 2014, has been surrounded with turmoil as construction has been behind schedule and delayed further when workers walked out on the project in February demanding better salaries and benefits.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff attended the match, which was organised to celebrate the completion of the stadium's refurbishment ahead Brazil's friendly versus England on June 2nd.
