OXFORD COUNCIL TO GIVE ADVICE ON RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

Advice on potential residential development on land around Oxford United's Kassam Stadium is being sought from Oxford City Council.

Builders Taylor Wimpey are looking at the possibility of building around 250 residential properties, which would be situated primarily on an overflow car park close to United's stadium.

Head of City development at Oxford City Council, Michael Crofton-Briggs, insisted it was very early days.

He said: "The football stadium has to remain. It is about making better use of the car park areas.

"There will still need to be an adequate level of parking to meet the needs of users of the stadium and the leisure complex nearby."
