Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium was the starting point for day 39 of the Olympic torch relay as the flame travels from Sheffield to Cleethorpes.
Lucy Brunt, 13, from Sheffield, was the first of 130 torchbearers and completed a lap of the stadium's running track to start the day.
The flame will cover 77 miles, visiting a science centre as well as boarding a train for a journey on a light railway before ending the day at Meridian Park.
Ms Brunt was nominated to run at the former home of Rotherham United Football Club for her courage and determination in coping with Down's Syndrome.
