WASPS SET FOR DECEMBER MOVE IN TO RICOH ARENA

Wasps have acquired a 50 per cent stake in Arena Coventry Limited and will play their first game at the Ricoh Arena this December.

In a controversial move that sees the club move 100 miles north of their London training base, Wasps have become joint owners of the stadium with immediate effect.

They will continue to play their home matches at Adams Park in High Wycombe until the December move in, with the plans having been met with dismay by a large section of their supporters.

More than 2,000 fans signed a petition against the move, which still needs approval  from the Rugby Football Union and the Aviva Premiership.

Nick Eastwood, Wasps Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Today’s announcement is a watershed moment in the history of Wasps and the professional game. It will help us realise our ambition to re-establish ourselves as one of the best teams in Europe and will guarantee the long term success of the club.”
