New plans for a multi-million dollar redevelopment of the Westpac Stadium has been unveiled by the Wellington Regional Stadium Trust.

The stadium, which is situated in New Zealand's capital city Wellington, is to undergo major redevelopment to ensure it remains one of the country's leading venues. The improvements will include upgrades to the main changing rooms and the addition of match offices, media facilities and an upgrade of the Deloitte Club Lounge.

A Trust spokesperson said: "The stadium will be opened up to its Wellington waterfront location, letting in more light and views of the waterfront and city."

The majority of the first phase is scheduled to be completed before the 2015 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup which will include a number of fixtures held at the Westpac Stadium. Future improvements are scheduled for 2016 and beyond, which include the covering of the entrance gate and replacing the stadium's exterior cladding.
